Upon arrival at Narita Airport Terminal 1, we proceeded to the JR pass exchange office (Basement) to exchange for our JR passes. Bear in mind that you’ll have to purchase the exchange orders outside Japan.

We brought the 7-day ordinary pass which allows unlimited rides on JR Shinkansen (except Nozomi). These JR passes could also be used on board Narita Express, which is a express train service to Tokyo.

To get to Osaka, we took the Narita Express bound for Tokyo (1 hour) and transferred to the Tokaido line which connects Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka.

The transfer was smooth and we reached Shin Osaka in about 2 ½ hours from Tokyo. Subsequently, we transferred to the subway and reached Shinsaibashi (M19) using the Midosuji line.

By the time we checked in Hotel Villa Fontaine Shinsaibashi, we were so hungry!

Found a decent sushi (conveyor belt type similar to Sakae Sushi) restaurant and had a decent lunch. We spent the rest of the day exploring Shinsaibashisuji and were truly amazed by the various toiletaries shops, characterised by their loud neon pink. Mens, don’t be disappointed as there’s also comprehensive range of beauty products for guys.

Of course, the famous Glico Logo was not forgotten. Shinsaibashi at night looks really different when the neon advertisements lights are turned on… Found MOS burger and decided to drop in to test it out… Our verdict : Good!
